James "Jim" Joseph Steffel, 87, of Raleigh, died Monday, June 30, 2008 at his home in Raleigh.
A memorial mass was held 10 am Thursday, July 3,2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC 27608. The family received friends 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Brown- Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
Jim was born October 24, 1920 in Salem, OH to Fred and Margaret Kennedy Steffel. He was a US Marine Corp veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific. Jim was employed with Sears and Eatmans Carpet and Interiors. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for 50 years and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy W. Steffel; daughter, Theresa White of Raleigh, NC; sons, Thomas Steffel and his wife, Rina of Clyde, NC; Frederick Steffel of Raleigh, NC; and James Steffel and his wife, Renee of Wake Forest, NC; brothers, Joseph Steffel and his wife, Beverly of Westemport, MD; and David Steffel and his wife, Peggy of Akron, OH; sisters, Delores Miller and her husband, Don of Stow, OH; and Mary Thomas and her husband, Gerald of Grifton, NC; granddaughters, Tina Watkins of Knightdale, NC; Tara Dickinson and her husband, Mark of Southport, England; Tonya Price and her husband Bill of Kenly, NC; ; English Steffel of Raleigh, NC; Sierra Lohmann and her husband, Josh of Wilmington, NC; and great grandchildren, Tamara; Geoffrey; and Jackson Watkins.
