Mildred Edwards "Bin" Savage, 88, of 2825 Mars Street, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, June 13, 2008. She was born October 24, 1919 in Nash County to the late George Nicholas Edwards and Eva Estelle Langston Edwards. Her senior year of high school she was chosen to represent the State of North Carolina in the 4H National Dress Review in Chicago, Illinois. Her entry has been displayed by the 4H Clubs of North Carolina during the North Carolina State Fair. Mildred donated her entry to the 4H Clubs to be permanently displayed in the 4H Club Museum. After high school, she attended East Carolina University and also Western Carolina University. She was known through North Carolina as an accomplished seamstress. On November 30, 1940, she married Norman Dixon Savage who preceded her in death on December 29, 1998, and together they raised their five children. Mildred was an avid gardener and active member of the Starmount Garden Club. Mildred has been recognized and awarded countless time throughout her lifetime for her sewing and gardening talents. She was a faithful member of her beloved Bethany Free win Baptist Church in Winterville. After moving to Raleigh, she attended Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Mildred was a devoted wife, grandmother, and friend and all will miss her smile and bright blue eyes.
