Michael Stephen "Mike" Johnson, 53, of 80 Homestead Way, Clayton, NC, died suddenly as a result of an auto accident on Thursday, June 19,2008. Mike was born in Greer, South Carolina to Joyce Burrell Johnson and the late Horace Arthur Johnson, JI: Mike graduated in 1974 from Millbrook High School and after graduation, went to work with the Wake County Tax Department. He then transferred to the City of Raleigh, became a fireman, and retired with 22 years as a Lieutenant. He spent most of his .fire service time at Station 5 so he could be near his son who attended Broughton High School. He was also a member of the Fire Department Honor Guard Team. Along with his family, he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities, being a deacon, usher, and Sunday School teacher. Mike loved landscaping and taking care of the elderly's yards by mowing their grass. He was a very active member of Col. Henry King Burgwyn, Jr. #1485 Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and will be missed by his family who loved him dearly.

Mike retired as a Lieutenant with the City of Raleigh Fire Department with 22 years of service.
